"I have to choose between money and God—I can't have both"
How it sounds in your head: It feels like wanting financial blessing means I'm not fully trusting God. Like I can either pursue Him OR pursue provision, but not both. Maybe caring about money means I don't really care about God.
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
-- 3 John 1:2Source: Religion creating a false dichotomy between spiritual devotion and material blessing, ignoring that God promises both.
She's heard 'you can't serve God and money' twisted to mean you can't HAVE God and money. Sermons pit spiritual life against financial life as if they're enemies, so she thinks she has to choose.
Isaac sowed in famine and reaped a hundredfold the same year, becoming so wealthy the Philistines envied him. He didn't choose between God and provision—God GAVE him provision because of the covenant, even when Isaac lied about his wife.
I REFUSE the lie that I must choose between God and money. IT IS WRITTEN that God wants me to prosper in ALL things, just as my soul prospers. I don't serve money—I serve God who PROVIDES money. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 8:18 that He gives me power to get wealth to establish His covenant. The BARAK blessing means I'm blessed in every area—spiritual AND financial. I can pursue God fully and walk in abundance because HE is the source of both. My provision glorifies Him, not competes with Him.
Your Father isn't making you choose—He's the One offering both. He delights in your spiritual growth AND your financial overflow because both reveal His goodness, and He's already prepared abundance that'll fuel the calling He's placed on your life.
