THE LIE Addiction as Identity

"I have a disease I can't cure—I'll always be sick with this."

How it sounds in your head: They call it a disease for a reason. It's in your brain chemistry now. You're wired wrong. Like diabetes or cancer—you manage it but never cure it. Your counselor said it's chronic. Medical science says you're sick.

IT IS WRITTEN 1 Peter 2:24

"Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed."

Enemy whispers: You have an incurable disease—you'll manage but never heal. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: 1 Peter 2:24—'By whose stripes you WERE healed.' Not 'will be managed.' Not 'in recovery from.' WERE HEALED. Past tense. Finished. IT IS WRITTEN in Isaiah 53:5, 'By His stripes WE ARE HEALED.' Jesus didn't die to make you a 'recovering addict'—He died to make you FREE and WHOLE. The same Jesus who healed lepers and raised the dead didn't leave addiction out of His finished work.

Brain scans show addiction changes neural pathways. Doctors and therapists all use disease language. It feels more compassionate than calling it sin, and more scientific than calling it spiritual.

THE BIBLICAL PRECEDENT John 9:1-7

Man born blind

Blind from BIRTH—genetic, incurable, lifelong condition. Jesus spit in dirt, made mud, and INSTANTLY healed what doctors said was permanent. One encounter undid a lifetime diagnosis with zero recovery period.

YOUR CONFESSION Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that I have an incurable disease. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I WAS HEALED—past tense, finished at the cross. I am not chronically sick—I am REDEEMED and RESTORED. Medical labels don't override covenant promises. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus bore my sins AND my sicknesses on the tree. The same power that healed the man born blind lives in me. I am not managing a disease—I am WALKING IN DIVINE HEALTH. The BARAK blessing commands blessing on my body and mind.

The Father doesn't see you as chronically diseased and permanently broken. He sees you as ALREADY HEALED by the stripes Jesus took 2,000 years ago. He's not managing your condition—He already CURED it at Calvary.
