"I had a bad thought about God and now I'm cursed forever."
How it sounds in your head: A terrible thought about God came into my head and I'm terrified. What if thinking it is the same as doing it? What if God saw it and now I'm marked? I can't undo what went through my mind.
"For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin."
-- Hebrews 4:15Source: Religious teaching that doesn't distinguish between intrusive thoughts and willful sin, making children responsible for the enemy's bombardment.
She doesn't understand the difference between temptation and sin, and the thought felt so real she believes she owns it. The shame spiral feels like confirmation of a curse.
Satan accused Job before God, was given permission to attack him, and Job lost everything in one day—children, wealth, health. Job's friends accused him of secret sin, but God defended Job and called the friends' accusations lies. God restored DOUBLE everything Job lost INSTANTLY when he prayed—not because Job earned it, but because the accusation was always a lie.
I REFUSE the lie that a bad thought makes me cursed. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus was tempted in ALL points yet remained sinless—temptation is NOT sin. An intrusive thought is NOT my heart; it's the enemy's attack. IT IS WRITTEN that no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against me in judgment I shall condemn. I am NOT defined by the darts thrown at my mind. I am covered by the BARAK blessing, which protected Abraham's seed through EVERY attack. I am blessed, not cursed, RIGHT NOW.
The Father isn't recording your intrusive thoughts as evidence against you—He sees them as the enemy's attacks and covers you with His defense. The thought didn't come FROM your heart; it was thrown AT your heart, and your revulsion at it proves you're still His.
