"I give in other ways—my time and service count more than money"
How it sounds in your head: You volunteer at church, babysit the grandkids, help at community events. Surely that's worth more than a check. God looks at the heart, and your heart is generous. Money isn't the only way—maybe not even the best way—to give.
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone."
-- Matthew 23:23Religious substitution, offering sweat to avoid surrendering treasure, keeping control.
Your time IS valuable and you DO serve sacrificially. It feels legalistic to focus on money when you're giving in so many other ways. Jesus cared about people, not percentages.
Mary poured out perfume worth a YEAR'S WAGES on Jesus' feet—300 denarii, an extravagant FINANCIAL sacrifice. Judas complained it should've been given to the poor (sounds like service!), but Jesus said, 'Leave her alone—she's done a BEAUTIFUL thing.' Financial generosity has unique spiritual weight.
I REFUSE the lie that service replaces financial obedience. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus said do the weightier matters WITHOUT leaving the others undone. My time is valuable, but my MONEY reveals where I truly trust. I don't give money because service isn't enough—I give BOTH because God wants all of me, not just the parts I'm comfortable releasing. IT IS WRITTEN in Luke 16:11—'If you have not been faithful in unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?'財nancial faithfulness unlocks spiritual authority. I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK blessing touches EVERY area—time, talent, AND treasure. I give ALL, trust ALL, receive ALL. I am BLESSED coming in and going out!
The Father adores your service, beloved, and He's not saying it doesn't matter—He's saying your MONEY matters too because it's often the LAST thing we surrender. He knows you'll babysit all day but hesitate to release the checkbook, and He's gently saying, 'Let Me have that too—I want ALL your trust, not just the easy parts.' When you give financially, you're saying, 'You're Lord of EVERYTHING.'
