Not Enough
"I don't have the emotional stability or mental health to be the woman God can use."

How it sounds in your head: Other women seem to have it together—peaceful, joyful, stable. I'm anxious, sometimes depressed, overthinking everything. I feel disqualified by my own mind. How can God use someone who can barely manage her own emotions? I'm too much of a mess.

Psalm 34:18

"The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit."

-- Psalm 34:18
Enemy whispers: You're too broken to be used. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: Psalm 34:18 - The Lord is NEAR to the brokenhearted, and saves those crushed in spirit. Your mental health struggles don't disqualify you—they position you for His nearness. He doesn't wait for you to stabilize before He comes close; He runs TOWARD the broken, not away. Your anxiety doesn't make you unusable; it makes you desperately dependent, which is exactly where fruit grows.
Quick Truth: LIE: I'm too mentally broken. TRUTH: The Lord is NEAR to the brokenhearted—your struggle positions you for His presence. (Ps 34:18)

Religion/Enemy: Tells you God only uses put-together people, making your mental health struggles equal spiritual disqualification.

Why this feels true:

You've had panic attacks in church parking lots, cried through worship, needed therapy and maybe medication. The 'peace that passes understanding' feels like everyone's reality but yours, making you feel like a second-class believer.

1 Kings 19:4-8
Elijah

Just called down fire from heaven, then spiraled into suicidal depression, begging God to let him die under a tree. God didn't rebuke him or demand he pull it together—He sent an angel with food, let him sleep, and tenderly restored him. Instant compassion, not condemnation, for the prophet in a mental health crisis.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that mental health struggles disqualify me from God's purposes. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord is NEAR to the brokenhearted, that He saves the crushed in spirit. My anxiety doesn't separate me from His love or His calling. I am not too much of a mess—I am a vessel carrying treasure in an earthen jar, so the power is clearly HIS, not mine. IT IS WRITTEN that His strength is made PERFECT in weakness. The BARAK blessing doesn't require emotional perfection—it rested on Jacob the anxious schemer, Elijah the depressed prophet, David the bipolar psalmist. I am chosen, called, and fully loved exactly as I am right now, medication and therapy included. My brokenness is the canvas for His glory.

But God actually:

The Father doesn't stand at a distance waiting for you to get emotionally stable—He's already running toward you in your panic attack, your depressive episode, your 3am anxiety spiral. He's whispering 'I'm near, I'm here, you're Mine' while you're still shaking, holding you like the Prodigal Father who didn't wait for the son to shower before the embrace.
