"I don't have enough mental clarity or memory left to hear from God."
How it sounds in your head: You forget names, lose track of conversations, struggle to recall what happened yesterday. You fear dementia is stealing not just your mind but your connection to God. How can He speak to someone whose brain is failing?
"Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."
-- Romans 8:26Enemy exploits natural cognitive decline to convince you that your relationship with God requires YOUR mental performance.
When you can't remember Scripture you once knew or lose your train of thought mid-prayer, it feels like evidence you're losing your spiritual connection along with your memory.
God took his sanity completely for seven years - he lived like an animal, lost all reason and memory of who he was. The MOMENT his sanity returned, his kingdom was instantly restored with even greater splendor.
I REFUSE the lie that mental decline separates me from God. IT IS WRITTEN that the Spirit helps my weakness and intercedes when I can't find words. My relationship with God is sealed by HIS faithfulness, not my mental capacity. IT IS WRITTEN that I am kept by the power of God, not by my ability to remember. Nothing can separate me from the love of God - not confusion, not forgetfulness, not even dementia. He knows my name even when I forget my own. I am His treasured daughter, held securely regardless of cognitive function.
The Father doesn't love you because of your sharp mind or perfect memory. He loved you before you could think at all, and He'll hold you close if your mind forgets everything - because HIS mind never forgets you.
