"I'm inadequate for the next season—I don't have what the future requires."
How it sounds in your head: You're past your peak. The world is changing faster than you can adapt. Younger people have skills and energy you don't. You're becoming obsolete. The next twenty years look harder, not easier. You're not equipped for what's coming.
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."
-- Jeremiah 29:11Enemy accusation leveraging midlife vulnerability and cultural lie that youth equals value and capability.
Technology IS changing rapidly. Younger coworkers ARE more current. Physical capacity IS declining. Financial demands of the future loom large. Past experience feels less relevant.
Abraham received the promised son Isaac at age 100 when Sarah was 90—DECADES past natural capacity for the future. God didn't need their youth or strength—He needed their YES, and He did the impossible in their 'too late' season INSTANTLY.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm inadequate for my future. IT IS WRITTEN that God knows the plans He has for me—plans for good and not evil, to give me a FUTURE and a HOPE. My path is like the dawn, shining brighter and brighter until full day—I'm INCREASING, not declining. IT IS WRITTEN that those planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God—they shall bear fruit in old age, they shall be fresh and flourishing. The BARAK blessing means my latter days are greater than my former. I am not limited by age—I'm empowered by the Ageless One.
The Father isn't done with you at 40-something—He's PREPARING you for your greatest impact. Like the father who had been FATTENING the calf in anticipation of the prodigal's return, God has been preparing good works for you to walk in—your future is secured by His purpose, not your capacity.
