"I don't feel anything when I pray, so my faith must be fake."
How it sounds in your head: Other kids at church talk about feeling God's presence or getting chills when they worship. I don't feel anything special. Maybe I'm just pretending to be a Christian. Maybe my faith isn't real because I don't have those experiences.
"But the just shall live by his faith."
-- Habakkuk 2:4Source: Charismatic culture that equates FEELINGS with faith, making God's presence dependent on emotional experiences rather than covenant reality.
When everyone around you describes powerful feelings and you're standing there feeling normal, it's easy to conclude something's wrong with YOU. You start wondering if you're even saved, if God is even real, because you don't have the emotional proof others seem to have.
Job said 'Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him' when he felt NOTHING but pain, loss, and abandonment. He couldn't feel God's presence, his friends said God was punishing him, yet his faith remained—and God called him righteous and restored DOUBLE everything he lost.
I REFUSE the lie that my faith is fake because I don't feel anything. IT IS WRITTEN that the just live by FAITH, not by feelings—my standing with God is based on HIS WORD, not my emotions. I am in Christ, sealed with the Holy Spirit, and NOTHING I feel or don't feel changes my position as a son. IT IS WRITTEN that Abraham believed when he felt old and dead—faith is TRUST in the promise, not a sensation in my body. The BARAK blessing doesn't flow because I feel it—it flows because I'm CONNECTED to Jesus by covenant. I am a BRANCH in the VINE, and sap flows whether I feel it or not. My faith is REAL because HIS faithfulness is real.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to manufacture feelings to prove you love Him—He knows your heart, He sees your trust, and He's already celebrating you as His son. The prodigal didn't FEEL worthy when he walked home smelling like pigs, but the Father's love wasn't based on how he felt—it was based on who he WAS.
