"I destroyed my testimony with my past. No one will listen to me now."
How it sounds in your head: Your past is public—messy relationships, questionable decisions, things you can't erase from the internet. You feel like your testimony is tainted, that you'll never have the platform or influence of someone with a 'clean' story.
"The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, 'Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?'"
-- John 4:28-29Religious standard that your past determines your spiritual authority—the enemy's accusation that your mess disqualifies your message.
People who know your story might judge you. Your past genuinely was messy. You don't have the squeaky-clean background of the women on stage sharing their stories. You feel permanently marked.
She had five failed marriages and was living in sin when Jesus met her. Within hours of encountering Him, she became the evangelist who brought her entire city to Christ—her scandalous past became the platform for her testimony.
I REFUSE the lie that my past destroyed my testimony or disqualified my voice. IT IS WRITTEN in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that I am a NEW creation in Christ—old things have PASSED AWAY, all things have become NEW. The Samaritan woman had five husbands and was living in sin, and Jesus used HER to evangelize an entire city. IT IS WRITTEN in Revelation 12:11 that we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our TESTIMONY. My mess is my MESSAGE. My past is my PLATFORM. I am not disqualified—I am QUALIFIED by His blood. The BARAK protected Jacob the deceiver and Judah the immoral. I am cleansed, called, and my voice MATTERS. My story will set captives free because it showcases HIS redemption, not my perfection.
The Father is running toward you with the microphone already in hand, not ashamed of your story but eager to broadcast His redemption through it. He's been turning your mess into your ministry while you thought you were disqualified.
