"I covered up something terrible decades ago, and if it comes out now, everything will be destroyed."
How it sounds in your head: I protected someone, or I protected myself, and in doing so, something terrible was hidden. It's been buried for so long. But now as my life winds down, I'm terrified it will surface. What if it all comes out after I'm gone? What will people think? What will God do?
"And above all things have fervent love for one another, for love will cover a multitude of sins."
-- 1 Peter 4:8Enemy fear tactic combined with religious belief that hidden sins create ticking time bombs that will eventually explode and destroy everything.
The weight of decades of secrecy creates constant fear of exposure, and at life's end, the vulnerability of being unable to control what happens after death amplifies the terror. It feels like a bomb waiting to detonate.
Moses murdered an Egyptian and buried the body, fleeing as a fugitive for 40 years. Yet God called him to lead Israel, and Hebrews 11 lists him in the faith hall of fame with ZERO mention of the murder. The covered sin didn't define him or destroy his legacy.
I REFUSE the lie that my covered secret will destroy everything. IT IS WRITTEN that love covers a MULTITUDE of sins, and the blood of Jesus speaks louder than any accusation. My secret is not a ticking bomb—it's already been defused at the cross. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the righteousness of God in Christ, a standing that cannot be destroyed by exposure because it's based on HIS WORK, not my concealment. I stand in the BARAK blessing that covered Moses the murderer, David the adulterer, and Jacob the deceiver—because the blessing is COVENANT-based, unshakable by revelation. I am secure.
The Father isn't holding His breath waiting for your secret to surface so He can withdraw His love—the cross already dealt with every secret, every cover-up, every buried sin. Even if it comes to light, His grace is LOUDER, His covering is THICKER, and His acceptance is UNSHAKABLE because it was never based on what you hid.
