"My thought life is so dark that even God is disgusted by what goes on in my head."
How it sounds in your head: Other people have temptations. You have a sewer. The violence, the lust, the blasphemous thoughts—nobody else battles this level of darkness. God tolerates you, but He's not pleased.
"For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace."
-- Hebrews 4:15-16Enemy accusation weaponizing intrusive thoughts and temptation to create false guilt and distance from God.
He compares his internal war to others' apparent peace and feels uniquely depraved. The graphic nature of thoughts feels like evidence of spiritual corruption.
Elijah battled suicidal depression, asked God to kill him, ran in fear after the greatest miracle of his ministry. God didn't rebuke him—He gave him food, rest, and a gentle whisper, then IMMEDIATELY sent him back to ministry with greater assignment.
I REFUSE the lie that my thought life disgusts God. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus was tempted in ALL points as I am—He's not shocked; He SYMPATHIZES. I come BOLDLY to the throne of grace, not shamefully. Temptation is not sin. IT IS WRITTEN there is NO condemnation for those in Christ. My dark thoughts don't change my identity as a son. The Father doesn't flinch at my internal battles—He runs toward me with compassion. I am Abraham's seed, blessed by covenant, not thought-life performance.
The Father sees every dark thought and doesn't back away—He leans in with compassion. Jesus faced every temptation you face and invites you to the throne BOLDLY, not shamefully.
