"I celebrated Halloween and exposed my children to demonic celebration and spiritual danger every October 31st."
How it sounds in your head: You took your kids trick-or-treating. You dressed them as witches, vampires, ghosts. You participated in a holiday with pagan roots, a celebration of DEATH and DARKNESS. Now you've been told you've been inviting demonic activity into your home ANNUALLY. Every October you opened the door to the enemy. Your kids' nightmares, their fears—it's because YOU let them celebrate demons. You should have been the parent who said no. You chose candy over their spiritual safety.
"For 'the earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof.'"
-- 1 Corinthians 10:26Religion—creates fear around cultural participation and implies parental decisions curse children
Her kids DO have nightmares sometimes in October. She's been told by church that Halloween is 'the devil's holiday.' She participated for years without thinking. Now she feels guilt—not just for herself but for EXPOSING her kids. Other moms seem so certain it's evil. Maybe she was dangerously naive. Maybe she chose convenience over conviction.
Jesus attended the Feast of Dedication (Hanukkah)—a NON-biblical feast, not commanded in Torah, created by MEN to celebrate a military victory. Jesus walked in Solomon's porch DURING this 'unauthorized' celebration. He didn't boycott. He didn't condemn. He PARTICIPATED and used it as an opportunity to teach. Cultural celebration didn't defile Him.
I REFUSE the lie that Halloween participation exposed my children to demonic danger. IT IS WRITTEN that the EARTH is the Lord's and EVERYTHING in it—including October 31st. No date, no holiday, no cultural tradition is owned by the enemy. IT IS WRITTEN that greater is He who is IN my children than he who is in the world. I am a Spirit-filled parent and my PRESENCE sanctifies cultural participation. My children walk in the BARAK blessing of Abraham—protected not by boycotting holidays but by COVENANT blood. I will not parent from FEAR. I parent from AUTHORITY. The enemy doesn't own my neighborhood or my calendar.
The Father sees you like Jesus at Hanukkah—participating in cultural celebration without contamination. He's not condemning you for trick-or-treating; He's reminding you that YOUR presence as His temple carriers sanctifies every space you enter, including your neighbors' doorsteps on October 31st. You didn't expose your kids to darkness. You brought LIGHT to the neighborhood.
