"I have to avoid all fantasy books and games because they'll reopen occult doors."
How it sounds in your head: Harry Potter is witchcraft. D&D is demonic. Fantasy novels with magic will invite darkness back in. You can't enjoy these things without risking everything you left behind. Stay away from imagination or pay the price.
"Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules: 'Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!'? These rules, which have to do with things that are all destined to perish with use, are based on merely human commands and teachings. Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence."
-- Colossians 2:20-23Religion: Making fiction and imagination dangerous instead of recognizing the difference between fantasy entertainment and actual occult practice.
Church leaders warned against fantasy with magic elements, treating them as gateways to real occult. Since she has occult history, this feels especially dangerous - like she's uniquely vulnerable and must avoid all fantasy to stay safe.
Trained for three years in ALL the literature and language of the Babylonians - occult practices, sorcery, divination, astrology. God gave him understanding in this knowledge and he became ten times better than all the magicians. Learning about occult didn't defile him.
I REFUSE the lie that fantasy entertainment reopens occult doors. IT IS WRITTEN that rules about 'do not handle, do not taste, do not touch' appear wise but have no actual power. Fiction is FICTION. Reading Harry Potter doesn't invite demons - it's IMAGINATION. Playing D&D isn't practicing witchcraft - it's STORY. IT IS WRITTEN: Titus 1:15 - 'To the pure, all things are pure.' I am PURE because of Jesus' blood, not because I avoid fantasy novels. I can enjoy imagination, games, and stories without fear because the blood that covers me doesn't have genre-specific limitations. The BARAK blessing includes freedom to read, play, and imagine without religious censorship. I am FREE to enjoy ALL things because greater is He in me than any fictional magic system.
The Father sees you putting down the fantasy book you were enjoying because someone said it's dangerous, and He's sad at the legalism stealing your joy. 'Daughter, I gave you imagination. Enjoy it. Fiction doesn't threaten My power over you.'
