"I can't tell my parents about my suicidal thoughts or they'll think I'm crazy."
How it sounds in your head: If I admit how dark my thoughts get, they'll freak out. They'll either force me into treatment like I'm broken or tell me to pray harder. Either way, they'll look at me differently forever. I have to handle this alone.
"I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare before Him my trouble."
-- Psalm 142:2Fear of rejection and shame surrounding mental health crisis, combined with cultural stigma about suicide and weakness.
He fears being labeled 'broken' or 'dangerous' if he reveals his darkest struggles. The silence feels safer than risking his parents' fear or disappointment.
Job cursed the day of his birth and wished he had never been born - explicit suicidal ideation expressed openly. God never rebuked Job for these thoughts but ultimately called him righteous and restored him completely.
I REFUSE the lie that my suicidal thoughts make me too broken to share. IT IS WRITTEN that God invites me to pour out ALL my troubles before Him, holding nothing back. Honesty about darkness is not weakness but courage. I am not meant to carry this alone. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, fully loved even in my darkest thoughts. The BARAK blessing of Abraham rests on me by COVENANT, not by my mental state. I am SEALED by the Holy Spirit, and no thought can break that seal. I declare LIFE over myself and receive help without shame.
The Father is not afraid of your darkest thoughts - He's running toward you with help, hope, and people equipped to support you. While you're terrified of rejection, He's already prepared the right counselor, the right words, the right intervention, and He's calling you beloved through it all.
