"I can't take authority because I don't feel spiritually strong or confident."
How it sounds in your head: Spiritual authority seems to require this bold, confident persona I don't have. I feel weak, uncertain, sometimes afraid. The warriors I see operate with such confidence—I just don't feel that inside. Maybe authority is for the naturally bold, not guys like me who doubt.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9-10Source: Enemy conflating spiritual authority with personality type or emotional state rather than covenant reality.
When you imagine taking authority, you picture someone bold and fearless—the opposite of how you feel inside. You think authority is for extroverts, for natural leaders, for the confident—not for someone who second-guesses everything.
Gideon was literally HIDING in a winepress, threshing wheat in secret because he was terrified of the Midianites. God called him a 'mighty warrior' while he was cowering. Gideon argued, questioned, asked for multiple signs because he was uncertain and afraid. God used him anyway to defeat a massive army because power isn't personality—it's position.
I REFUSE the lie that I need to feel strong or confident to have authority. IT IS WRITTEN that His strength is made PERFECT in my weakness, meaning my uncertainty is the exact place His power rests on me. IT IS WRITTEN that God called Gideon a mighty warrior while he was hiding in fear—authority isn't about my personality; it's about my POSITION. The BARAK blessing worked for Jacob who was a deceiver by nature, for Abraham who was a coward who lied—it's not about character traits; it's about COVENANT. I take authority NOT because I feel bold, but because I AM His son and His Word is in my mouth. When I speak His Word from a place of weakness, His strength shows up perfectly. My doubts don't cancel His promises. I am mighty not because of how I feel, but because of whose I am.
The Father doesn't need you to feel confident before He releases power through you. He specializes in using weak, uncertain, doubting sons to display His strength. The prodigal felt like a failure but received a party—your feelings don't change His facts.
