"I can't reconcile a good God with this much suffering."
How it sounds in your head: Kids with cancer. Tsunamis. The Holocaust. If God is good and powerful, this shouldn't exist. And if He allows it, what does that say about His character? You can't worship a God who lets this happen.
"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
-- John 16:33Enemy using pain in the world to accuse God's character; religion offering shallow theodicy that doesn't hold up.
You've seen real suffering—maybe in your own life, definitely in the world—and the 'God has a plan' clichés feel obscene. The problem of evil is real, and the Christian answers feel inadequate.
Job lost everything—children, wealth, health—and demanded answers from God. God showed up but didn't EXPLAIN; He revealed His majesty, and Job said, 'Now my eye sees You.' God restored DOUBLE everything Job lost in a single day—the suffering didn't have the last word.
I REFUSE the lie that suffering disproves God's goodness. IT IS WRITTEN that in the world I WILL have trouble, but Jesus has OVERCOME—He didn't eliminate suffering; He entered it and DEFEATED it. Job lost everything and God restored DOUBLE in one day—instant breakthrough after the long night. God didn't CAUSE Job's pain; the enemy did, and God turned it for greater blessing. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:18 that present suffering is 'not worthy to be compared' with coming glory. I declare: God is WITH me in the pain, not distant from it, and the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is working ALL things—even this—for good. The BARAK blessing means REDEMPTION, not exemption, and the story isn't over.
The Father isn't up in heaven unmoved by suffering—He put on flesh, felt it, wept over it, and died under it to DESTROY its power. He's not giving you a philosophical answer; He's giving you His presence in the middle of the question, and that presence is the answer.
