"I can't lead or minister until I'm more spiritually mature"
How it sounds in your head: I'm only 14. I don't know the Bible like older people do. I'm still struggling with basic stuff. Leadership is for the mature Christians who have it figured out. I need years of growth before I'm ready to help anyone else.
"Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity."
-- 1 Timothy 4:12Source: Religion creating hierarchies of spiritual readiness, making ministry about credentials instead of willingness
Youth group puts the 'mature' high schoolers in leadership, adults quote 1 Timothy 3 qualifications, and everyone says 'grow first, serve later.' Age and experience seem like the prerequisites.
Josiah became king at age EIGHT with zero leadership training. At 16, he led the greatest spiritual revival in Judah's history, tearing down idols and restoring the temple. God didn't wait for him to 'mature'—He used his YOUTH to shake a nation.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too young or immature to be used by God. IT IS WRITTEN: 'Let NO ONE despise your youth'—which means my age is not a disqualification, it's my DISTINCTION. God doesn't use the mature; He uses the WILLING, and I am WILLING. IT IS WRITTEN that I should not say 'I am a youth' as an excuse, because God sends whom He chooses regardless of age. David was a teenager when he killed Goliath. Josiah was 16 when he led revival. Timothy was young when he led churches. I am not waiting to be READY—I am ready because HE is IN me. I am a BRANCH in the VINE, and fruit flows NOW, not later. The BARAK blessing doesn't wait for maturity; it rests on me because I am IN CHRIST.
The Father isn't waiting for you to age into usefulness—He's commissioning you NOW like He did Josiah at 16, David as a teen, and Timothy as a young pastor. He sees a WARRIOR, not a kid, and He's ready to use your youth as a WEAPON against religion's low expectations.
