"I can't ask God for financial miracles when I'm about to die anyway—that's selfish and unspiritual."
How it sounds in your head: I should be focused on eternal things now, not money. Praying for finances at my age seems shallow. I need to accept my lot and just be grateful I'll be with Jesus soon.
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
-- 3 John 1:2Religion: The false dichotomy that spirituality and provision are opposed, and wanting financial breakthrough near death is carnal.
Church culture has taught that spiritual maturity means not caring about earthly needs, and near death, financial requests feel petty compared to eternity. She's been conditioned to see provision prayers as immature.
He had HOURS to live, was literally dying, and asked Jesus for future blessing ("remember me in Your kingdom"). Jesus didn't rebuke him for not being "spiritual enough"—He promised him PARADISE that very day.
I REFUSE the lie that asking for financial provision near death is unspiritual. IT IS WRITTEN that God wants me to prosper in ALL things (3 John 1:2). The thief on the cross asked for blessing while dying, and Jesus gave him Paradise. My Father cares about EVERY need, financial included. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus came to give me life ABUNDANTLY (John 10:10)—not just spiritual life, but ABUNDANT life NOW. The BARAK blessing doesn't retire when I age. I declare BOLDNESS to ask for financial miracles until my last breath. My Father delights in giving good gifts.
Your Father isn't rolling His eyes at your financial requests—He's the God who cared about wedding wine and breakfast fish for His disciples. He's not too spiritual to meet you in the practical; He became FLESH to do exactly that.
