"I became just like my father, and now I've damaged my own kids the same way."
How it sounds in your head: I swore I'd never be like him. But I hear his words coming out of my mouth. I see his anger in my reactions. I repeated the cycle. My kids probably resent me the way I resented him, and there's no way to undo 40 years of parenting mistakes.
"The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself."
-- Ezekiel 18:20Generational curse lie, making him believe he's trapped in an inherited pattern with no covenant power to break it.
He's watched himself parent with his father's playbook. The evidence seems overwhelming—same impatience, same emotional distance, same critical spirit. His adult children's guardedness feels like confirmation.
Wickedest king in Judah's history, sacrificed his own sons to demons, filled Jerusalem with innocent blood. He repented in chains, and God INSTANTLY restored him—his past evil didn't disqualify him from complete redemption and restoration.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm trapped in my father's pattern. IT IS WRITTEN that the son does not bear the guilt of the father, and Christ has REDEEMED me from every generational curse. The blood of Jesus is more powerful than DNA, more powerful than learned behavior, more powerful than 40 years of mistakes. IT IS WRITTEN in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that I am a NEW CREATION—old things passed away, ALL things become new. That includes parenting patterns. The BARAK blessing on my life extends to my children—they are blessed coming in and going out because they are seed of the blessed. God defended Jacob the DECEIVER and his murderous sons—He will defend and restore my children despite my failures. I declare breakthrough over my relationships with my kids RIGHT NOW. I am not my father. I am a son of the Most High God.
The Father is running toward your children right now, filling every gap you left, healing every wound you caused, speaking over them what you didn't know how to say. Your imperfect fathering couldn't stop His perfect fathering—He's been parenting them all along.
