"Her kids do all the activities and mine are missing out on everything."
How it sounds in your head: Her kids do travel soccer, piano, coding camp, and summer missions trips. Yours do public school and the free library program. She's building their resume for college. You're just trying to keep them fed and not feral. You're limiting their future because you're broke.
"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."
-- Proverbs 22:6Enemy accusation combining mom-guilt (you're failing them) with works-based blessing (God provides activities for kids He favors).
You see her kids' packed schedules and polished skills while yours are home playing Xbox. The gap between their opportunities and your kids' boredom feels like proof you're handicapping their future with your financial limitations.
Samuel grew up in the temple doing basic service—not elite training or enrichment programs, just ministering before the Lord in a linen ephod. The Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground; he became the prophet who anointed kings, and all Israel recognized him as established as a prophet of the Lord.
I REFUSE the lie that my kids are missing out because we can't afford every activity. IT IS WRITTEN to train them in the way they should go—the way of righteousness—and that doesn't require a packed schedule or hefty registration fees. My children are BLESSED as the offspring of the righteous. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 28 that my children are blessed—not conditionally, but BECAUSE they are mine and I am under covenant. The BARAK blessing covering me covers them. The God who made Samuel a nation-shaping prophet from basic temple service and David a king from shepherd fields isn't measuring my kids by their extracurriculars. What I'm giving them at home—love, truth, presence, and the Word—is forming them into world-changers no travel team could produce.
The Father isn't comparing your kids' schedule to hers—He's watching you invest what money can't buy: presence, time, attention, and the knowledge of who they are as covenant children. While you're worried about what they're missing, He's preparing the suddenly where doors open for them that no amount of lessons could've unlocked, because He promotes His covenant kids.
