"Everyone my age has their finances figured out, but I'm still struggling and behind."
How it sounds in your head: You scroll social media and see friends remodeling kitchens, taking European trips, helping adult kids with down payments. You're still working through debt, cutting coupons, saying no to things you thought you'd be able to afford by now. The shame whispers: everyone else planned better, saved smarter, made wiser choices.
"For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise."
-- 2 Corinthians 10:12Source: Comparison culture amplified by social media, religious teaching that financial blessing equals spiritual maturity or divine favor earned through superior stewardship.
You see the highlight reels—the vacations, the new cars, the retirement plans—and your bank account tells a different story. Your body keeps count of the years you've been faithful, yet the promised 'blessing' looks like it went to everyone else's address.
She was down to her last meal—one handful of flour, preparing to feed her son and then die during a three-year famine while everyone else scrambled for resources. One act of obedience and her barrel of flour never ran empty and her jar of oil never ran dry for over three years—she had CONSTANT SUPPLY while everyone around her starved.
I REFUSE the lie that my worth is measured by comparing my bank account to another woman's portfolio. IT IS WRITTEN that I am Abraham's seed and HEIR according to promise, not according to performance or portfolio size. The same BARAK that protected Abraham the liar, Jacob the deceiver, and Judah the immoral is MINE by the blood of Jesus—it doesn't run dry when I don't measure up to Instagram standards. IT IS WRITTEN that comparing myself to others is not wise—God is not grading on a curve, and His provision for me is not diminished because someone else got a kitchen remodel. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, and the blessing follows COVENANT, not comparison. My Father's supply is not a pie where someone else's slice makes mine smaller.
Your Father isn't watching their account to determine yours—He's watching JESUS, and in Him, you are already qualified for every blessing Abraham ever walked in. Right now, while you're looking at their vacation photos, He's running toward you with the fattened calf, the ring of authority, and the robe of provision—not because you measured up, but because you're His.
