"Her debt isn't my responsibility. I paid my bills; she made her choices."
How it sounds in your head: I've been financially responsible my entire life. Why should I suffer for her poor decisions? At my age, I shouldn't have to clean up someone else's mess. It's not fair.
"Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt."
-- Matthew 18:27Religious spirit: Righteousness through personal responsibility, scorekeeper God, you reap what you sow applies to others.
Every debt has her name on the charges, every financial mistake traces back to her decisions. You maintained discipline while she didn't, and simple justice says she should bear her own consequences.
A widow owed debt her dead husband accumulated—not her spending, HIS obligation she inherited. God didn't argue responsibility; He multiplied oil until ALL debt was paid with surplus remaining, accomplished in one supernatural afternoon.
I REFUSE the lie that my Father operates on 'your debt, your problem' principles! IT IS WRITTEN that He forgave an impossible 10,000-talent debt in one moment—not based on who was responsible but on His compassion. My household is ONE covenant unit covered by the BARAK blessing of Abraham that brings supernatural provision. IT IS WRITTEN in 2 Kings 4:7, God paid a widow's debt that wasn't even her fault—He multiplied oil until the ENTIRE debt was satisfied with surplus. The same God who canceled my sin-debt without asking 'whose fault?' commands blessing on our household RIGHT NOW. I am blessed in my storehouses, lender not borrower, regardless of who spent what!
Your Father sees one household under one covenant, not separate accounts of blame. He's not asking whose fault it is—He's already releasing the oil that pays it ALL, just like the widow who inherited debt she didn't create.
