"God won't provide because I didn't tithe when I should have; now I'm under a curse."
How it sounds in your head: Malachi says if you don't tithe, you're robbing God and under a curse. You haven't been able to tithe for YEARS because there's nothing left after bills. Now you're reaping what you sowed - windows of heaven closed, devoured by the devourer, all because you didn't give God His 10%.
"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work."
-- 2 Corinthians 9:8Religion: Weaponizing Malachi 3:8-10 to put believers back under Old Covenant law, making provision conditional on payment instead of covenant gift.
Pastors quote Malachi like it's a Christian verse, and you've heard it for decades. The math is simple - you didn't tithe, so God won't provide. Your lack feels like direct consequence of disobedience, and now you're too broke TO tithe, so the cycle can't break.
She gave two copper coins - all she had to live on - not 10% but 100%, and she was already broke. Jesus didn't say 'now you'll be blessed because you tithed' - He honored her HEART, and grace doesn't demand 10% before it moves.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm under a curse for not tithing. IT IS WRITTEN that God makes all grace ABOUND toward me, that I ALWAYS have ALL SUFFICIENCY in ALL things - not because I paid 10% but because GRACE abounds. I am not under Law; I am under GRACE, and grace doesn't wait for my payment to move. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ redeemed me from the curse of the Law - that includes the Malachi curse that religion weaponized. The windows of heaven opened at the CROSS when the veil tore, not when I write a check. The BARAK blessing protected Abraham even when he LIED - it's not based on my tithing performance but on COVENANT. I am blessed because I am IN CHRIST, period.
The Father didn't close the windows of heaven because you couldn't tithe - He TORE THE VEIL and opened unlimited access when Jesus said 'it is finished.' You're not working your way into provision; you're already IN by blood, not budget.
