"God can't bless me financially while I'm still in debt to others."
How it sounds in your head: How can you ask God for blessing when you owe people money? You need to pay everyone back first before you deserve any increase. God's hands are tied until you clean up this mess.
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
-- Romans 5:8Religious teaching that positions debt as a barrier to God's blessing, requiring works to remove blockage.
She's heard sermons about "getting right" with people before expecting God to move. She feels guilty asking for financial blessing while creditors are calling, like she's being greedy or presumptuous to expect increase while owing debt.
The prodigal blew his entire inheritance on prostitutes and wild living, owing his father everything and having nothing to repay. When he came home still smelling like pigs, the father didn't make him work off the debt or prove himself first. He RAN to him, put the ring of authority back on his finger, gave him the robe and sandals of sonship, and threw a party - full restoration while still IN DEBT.
I REFUSE the lie that God can't bless me until I'm debt-free. IT IS WRITTEN that while I was STILL A SINNER, Christ died for me - God didn't wait for me to clean up first. The prodigal received the ring, robe, and party while still owing everything, because the Father's blessing is based on RELATIONSHIP, not balance sheets. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed coming in and going out, in the city and in the field, because I am Abraham's seed through Christ - NOT because my credit is perfect. The BARAK blessing isn't performance-based. It protected Abraham when he LIED, Jacob when he DECEIVED, and covers me NOW in my debt because of COVENANT, not character.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to get your accounts to zero before He opens heaven's windows. He's the God who blessed the prodigal WHILE HE STILL OWED EVERYTHING, because His blessing flows from His nature as GOOD FATHER, not from your financial statement. He's already running toward you with increase, not checking your credit report first.
