"God used me powerfully in the past, but those days are over—I'm too old now."
How it sounds in your head: You remember when God moved through you—salvations, healings, powerful preaching. But that was 20, 30 years ago. You're 65 now. Your body is slower, your mind not as sharp. God uses young firebrands, not old men with bad knees. Your season is past. Make peace with it.
"And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions."
-- Joel 2:28Source: World's youth-obsessed culture applied to Kingdom dynamics; enemy's lie that God's power is age-dependent.
You see younger pastors with energy, vision, and tech-savvy skills you don't have. Your body limits what you used to do effortlessly. Retirement feels like being put out to pasture, irrelevant.
Caleb was 85 years old and declared, 'I am as strong today as the day Moses sent me... give me this mountain!' He fought giants, took his inheritance, and possessed the land—AFTER most men would have retired.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too old and God is done using me powerfully. IT IS WRITTEN in Joel 2:28 that old men shall DREAM DREAMS—God is giving me fresh vision, new assignments, greater anointing in THIS season. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 92:14 that I shall still bear fruit in old age—I will be fresh and flourishing, not dried up and irrelevant. Age is not a limitation in God's Kingdom; it's an ADVANTAGE. Moses began at 80. Caleb conquered at 85. Abraham birthed a nation at 100. My greatest days are NOT behind me—they are IN FRONT of me. The BARAK blessing of Abraham is generational, ageless, and unstoppable—I am blessed coming in and going out, in youth AND in age. God is not done with me; He's REFINING me for greater glory.
The Father isn't putting you out to pasture or looking for your replacement—He's preparing you for your finest hour. Like the prodigal's father who didn't say, 'You're too old to start over,' but threw a PARTY and gave him full authority again, your Father sees your wisdom, your scars, your faithfulness, and He's saying, 'NOW you're ready for what I've really called you to.' Your age is not a liability; it's your secret weapon.
