"God stopped doing miracles when the Bible was completed. We have Scripture now instead of signs."
How it sounds in your head: My pastor always said miracles were for confirming Scripture before it was written. Now we have the complete Bible, so we don't need supernatural stuff anymore. That actually makes logical sense.
"And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs."

His conservative church taught this for decades with scholarly arguments. It explains why he's never seen dramatic miracles and makes him feel educated rather than powerless.
Syrian commander with incurable leprosy, a Gentile with no covenant right to healing. Elisha didn't even come out to see him, just sent a message to dip seven times. After the seventh dip, his flesh became like a young child's - completely restored in moments.
I REFUSE the lie that God replaced miracles with Scripture. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord WORKS with us, confirming the Word through accompanying signs - not worked past tense, but WORKS present tense. Jesus said believers would do GREATER works than He did, and He wasn't lying. The Bible itself is filled with promises of healing, deliverance, and provision for NOW, not just historical accounts. IT IS WRITTEN that God confirms His Word with signs following, and His Word hasn't lost its power. I expect miracles because I serve a miracle-working God who never stopped.
The Father gave you Scripture AND miracles, not one instead of the other - He wants you to know His promises in writing AND experience His power in reality. Both Word and works flow from His unchanging nature.
