"God only responds to the prayers of people who've mastered faith - I'm still learning."
How it sounds in your head: There's a varsity faith level I haven't reached yet. The people who see miracles have figured something out I haven't. They're advanced believers. I'm still in faith kindergarten. God moves for the pros, not the amateurs. Maybe in a few years when I've grown more spiritually.
"But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are."
-- 1 Corinthians 1:27-28Source: Religion creating a faith hierarchy that makes God's response depend on your spiritual maturity level, treating Him like a coach who only plays the starters.
You've watched seasoned believers operate in confidence you don't feel yet. Their decades of walking with God seem like prerequisites you haven't met. You're only a few years into faith - surely that's not enough.
David was a TEENAGER, not a soldier - hadn't mastered warfare, hadn't trained with the army, hadn't 'learned faith' from the veterans. Saul said 'you are but a YOUTH' - too young, too inexperienced. David killed Goliath THAT DAY with a rock and a sling while seasoned warriors watched in fear. God didn't wait for David to grow up and get qualified.
I REFUSE the lie that God benches beginners. IT IS WRITTEN that God CHOOSES the weak and foolish specifically TO SHAME the mighty - my amateur status makes me God's favorite pick. David was a TEENAGER with no military training and killed the giant the veterans feared. IT IS WRITTEN that I am Abraham's seed, and Abraham was a pagan moon-worshiper when God called him - no spiritual resume, no faith mastery. The BARAK blessing doesn't require varsity-level belief. I am the righteousness of God in Christ RIGHT NOW - not after years of maturity. God doesn't have junior and senior saints. All are one in Christ.
The Father isn't making you wait on the bench until you've earned playing time. He's the God who picked teenage David over trained warriors, who called Abraham when he was a pagan, who chose foolish weak things to confound the wise. Your inexperience is your qualification in His kingdom.
