"God only moves for people with radical, bold faith like the heroes in Scripture"
How it sounds in your head: I read about these biblical giants who believed God for the impossible, but I'm just a regular guy trying to pay rent and figure out my career. That level of faith isn't accessible to someone like me.
"Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months."
-- James 5:17Hero worship that turns biblical people into spiritual athletes instead of flawed humans who encountered a faithful God.
The comparison between your mundane struggles and their epic stories makes it seem like different categories of faith exist. Your ordinary life feels disqualifying when measured against parting seas and raising the dead.
God called Gideon a 'mighty man of valor' while he was literally HIDING in a winepress, afraid of enemies. Gideon argued, questioned, asked for multiple signs—yet God still used him to defeat armies. Cowardice didn't disqualify him; God's word qualified him.
I REFUSE the lie that God's power is reserved for spiritual elites. IT IS WRITTEN that Elijah was a man with a nature LIKE MINE, yet he commanded the weather (James 5:17). I don't need extraordinary faith—I need an EXTRAORDINARY GOD. IT IS WRITTEN that the apostles were 'uneducated and untrained,' yet they carried world-changing power (Acts 4:13). Abraham lied repeatedly and stayed blessed because the BARAK is COVENANT, not character. Gideon was hiding in fear when God called him mighty. I am not disqualified by ordinariness—I AM qualified by being IN CHRIST (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Your Father doesn't need you to be a superhero—He specializes in using the weak to shame the strong (1 Corinthians 1:27). The prodigal wasn't a hero; he was a failure who came home, and the Father threw a party anyway.
