"God must be teaching me something through this pain. I need to figure out the lesson."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe I'm not learning what He wants me to learn. Maybe if I was more spiritually mature, I'd understand the purpose and then He'd heal me. Everyone says God doesn't waste suffering, so I must be missing something important.
"How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."
-- Acts 10:38Source: Religious teaching that makes God the author of suffering and healing dependent on deciphering divine lessons, contradicting Jesus' clear ministry of healing ALL who came.
Well-meaning Christians have told her 'God is refining you' and 'there's purpose in your pain,' making her feel like healing requires spiritual comprehension. She's been taught that questioning suffering is questioning God's sovereignty.
Disciples asked whose sin caused his blindness - whose lesson was this? Jesus said NEITHER - it wasn't about lessons but about displaying God's works. Then He healed him IMMEDIATELY, no lesson required, no waiting for understanding.
I REFUSE the lie that God is authoring my pain to teach me. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus healed ALL who were oppressed by the devil, identifying sickness's source as enemy oppression, not Father instruction. God's nature is revealed in Jesus, who went about DOING GOOD and HEALING. My Father doesn't teach through torment - He's a Good Father who gives good gifts. IT IS WRITTEN that every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of lights, and pain is neither good nor perfect. Healing isn't a reward for learning lessons; it's my birthright as Abraham's seed through Christ.
Your Father isn't withholding healing until you decode some spiritual mystery - He's already placed healing in Jesus' finished work 2000 years ago. He's not the teacher inflicting pain; He's the Healer running toward you with the answer already prepared.
