"God is withholding blessing until I prove I can be trusted with money again."
How it sounds in your head: You mismanaged everything He gave you before. Why would He trust you with more when you wasted the first portion? You're on probation until you demonstrate better stewardship.
"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."
-- 2 Corinthians 5:21Religious works-teaching that God operates like a bank requiring credit score improvement before approval.
It sounds exactly like Luke 16:10-11 about faithfulness in little things. Every sermon on stewardship has implied this transactional relationship with God's provision.
He squandered everything on prostitutes and returned broke, broken, and reeking of pig farm. The father gave him the ring of authority IMMEDIATELY—no probation, no prove-yourself period, full access to family wealth restored before he even bathed.
I REFUSE the lie that God withholds blessing until I prove financial responsibility. IT IS WRITTEN that I AM the righteousness of God in Christ—not trying to become it, I AM it NOW. The prodigal received the ring while he still smelled like pigs because the father's giving was based on RELATIONSHIP, not track record. I am under the BARAK blessing by covenant through Christ's blood. IT IS WRITTEN in Galatians 3:13 that Christ redeemed me from the curse so blessing comes upon me. My Father isn't waiting for proof; He's running toward me with restoration.
Your Father isn't like a loan officer reviewing your credit history—He's the Father who killed the fattened calf for a son who wasted everything. He's been preparing blessing while you've been in the pig pen, and it's yours the moment you turn toward home.
