"God is using this sickness to teach me something I need to learn"
How it sounds in your head: Maybe there's sin I haven't dealt with. Maybe God's trying to slow me down or show me something about dependence. The pastor said suffering produces character. If I get healed before I learn the lesson, I'll just have to go through it again.
"How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."
-- Acts 10:38Religious teaching making God the author of sickness instead of the healer, directly contradicting Jesus' entire ministry
Well-meaning Christians quote 'all things work together for good' and 'trials produce perseverance,' making sickness feel like a divine curriculum instead of an enemy assault. It gives suffering meaning, which feels better than randomness.
A woman was bent over for EIGHTEEN YEARS, unable to straighten up. Jesus called it BONDAGE by SATAN (verse 16), not a teaching tool from God. He healed her IMMEDIATELY on the Sabbath, calling her a 'daughter of Abraham'—covenant entitled her to freedom, not lessons through suffering.
I REFUSE the lie that my Father is using sickness to teach me. IT IS WRITTEN: Jesus healed ALL who were oppressed by the DEVIL—sickness is the devil's work, not my Father's classroom. The thief comes to steal, kill, destroy; Jesus comes to give ABUNDANT LIFE. If Jesus is the exact representation of the Father, and Jesus healed EVERYONE who came to Him, then my Father's will is HEALING, not sickness. IT IS WRITTEN: no good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly—sickness isn't a 'good thing' God withholds healing to teach me. I am a branch attached to the Vine; life and health flow TO me automatically. The BARAK blessing protected Abraham's BODY from Pharaoh and Abimelech—it's a PHYSICAL blessing, not just spiritual.
Your Father isn't making you sick to teach you—Jesus went around UNDOING sickness everywhere He found it, and He is the exact representation of your Father. The prodigal's father didn't withhold the robe to 'teach him responsibility.' He RAN. God's lessons come through His Word and Spirit, not through disease.
