"God is using my chronic illness to prepare me for a special calling—suffering now means purpose later."
How it sounds in your head: Everyone says 'God won't waste this pain' and 'you'll help others who go through what you're going through.' Maybe this disease is part of some bigger plan—like I had to be sick now so I can minister to sick people later. Maybe if I get healed, I'll lose my purpose. Maybe my calling is literally tied to staying sick.
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."
-- Jeremiah 29:11Source: Purpose-driven theology that redeems suffering by making it prerequisite for calling, accidentally making people afraid healing will cost them their destiny.
Adults constantly tell her 'God will use this' and 'your pain has purpose,' which sounds comforting but creates fear that healing equals losing the meaning of her suffering. Testimonies of people who 'found their calling through their struggle' make it seem like the struggle IS the calling rather than the calling coming AFTER freedom.
Joseph was in PRISON for years—falsely accused, forgotten, suffering. But when Pharaoh needed him, they rushed him out, shaved him, changed his clothes, and he interpreted dreams and became second-in-command in Egypt ALL IN ONE DAY. Prison wasn't his preparation—God's favor was. He ruled from FREEDOM, not from the pit.
I REFUSE the lie that I must stay sick to fulfill my calling. IT IS WRITTEN that God's plans for me are for PEACE, NOT EVIL, to give me a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Sickness is EVIL; it's not Father's preparation program. Joseph ruled from FREEDOM, not from prison—the pit was the enemy's plan, promotion was Father's. My calling flows from ABUNDANCE, not affliction. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus came to give LIFE MORE ABUNDANTLY (John 10:10). I am Abraham's seed; the BARAK blessing includes being the HEAD, not the tail, ABOVE and not beneath (Deuteronomy 28:13)—that's my position, healed and whole. I receive complete healing RIGHT NOW and step into my calling from a place of VICTORY, not victim-hood.
Your Father is not holding your healing hostage to keep you 'useful'—He's the One who promoted Joseph OUT of the prison in a single day because the calling was never ABOUT the suffering. Your purpose is not in the pain; it's in HIS POWER through you, and He's already prepared works for you to walk in (Ephesians 2:10) from a place of wholeness, not wounding.
