"God is testing my faith by making me wait years for an answer."
How it sounds in your head: Abraham waited 25 years for Isaac. Joseph waited 13 years in prison. Maybe this decade of silence is my faith test. Maybe God is seeing if I'll still believe when nothing changes. Maybe the waiting IS the point.
"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."
-- Hebrews 11:6Religious teaching that romanticizes delay and makes God's nature seem like a cosmic tester rather than a loving Father.
He's been taught that great faith is proven through long waiting. Every sermon about Abraham emphasizes the 25 years, not the multiple times God appeared and spoke immediately. The narrative of 'delayed but not denied' has become his default expectation.
Zacchaeus climbed a tree hoping to catch a glimpse of Jesus. One encounter, one meal, and Jesus declared, 'Today salvation has come to this house.' No waiting period. No probation. No faith test. Immediate transformation, immediate acceptance, immediate declaration of sonship.
I REFUSE the lie that God tests my faith through delay. IT IS WRITTEN: God is a rewarder, not a withholder—Hebrews 11:6. He doesn't test me with silence; James 1:13 says He doesn't tempt or test with evil. IT IS WRITTEN: today is the day of salvation—2 Corinthians 6:2. Not tomorrow. TODAY. The BARAK blessing appeared to Abraham multiple times with immediate words and encounters—the 25-year wait for Isaac didn't mean God was silent. I don't have to wait years to prove my faith; the thief on the cross got paradise with one sentence. My faith is in His finished work, not in my ability to endure delay.
Your Father isn't making you wait to see if you'll still love Him. He's the God of 'today salvation has come'—immediate, lavish, over-the-top acceptance. The wait isn't His test; it's the enemy's lie that you're believing.
