"God is teaching me contentment through financial struggle in retirement."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe this is God's classroom and lack is the curriculum. He's teaching you not to love money, to trust Him daily, to find joy without comfort. Fighting it would be resisting His lesson, so you should embrace the struggle as His will.
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."
-- James 1:17Religious teaching that makes God the author of suffering and reframes poverty as discipleship lesson rather than enemy attack to be resisted.
Paul said he learned contentment in every situation, and Jesus taught not to worry about tomorrow, so accepting financial struggle as God's teaching method sounds biblical. Suffering is supposed to build character, and resisting it feels like resisting God's plan.
Abraham sent her away with minimal supplies—she and Ishmael were dying of thirst in the wilderness. When she cried out, God IMMEDIATELY opened her eyes to a well that was ALREADY THERE. He didn't teach her contentment with thirst—He provided water instantly and promised to make Ishmael a great nation.
I REFUSE the lie that God is teaching me through financial struggle or that poverty is His curriculum. IT IS WRITTEN that every good and perfect gift comes from above, and lack is NOT a gift. Jesus came to give abundant life, and the enemy comes to steal. IT IS WRITTEN: Christ redeemed me from the curse of poverty, and I am blessed coming in and going out. God teaches through His Word, not through enemy attack. I resist lack, I receive provision, and I walk in the Deuteronomy 28 blessings that are mine by covenant through the BARAK of Abraham.
The Father isn't withholding provision to build your character—He's a good Father who gives good gifts, and lack isn't on His gift list. He's not teaching you to survive on crumbs; He's inviting you to feast at His table where there's always MORE than enough. The well is already there—He's just opening your eyes to see His provision that's been waiting for you all along.
