"God is silent because He's teaching me patience and character through waiting."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe this delay is God's classroom. Maybe He's building patience in me. Maybe I'm supposed to learn something from the silence before He answers. The longer it takes, the more character I'm developing, right?
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."
-- James 1:17Religious teaching that makes God the author of delay and suffering, contradicting His nature as a good Father who gives good gifts.
He's heard a thousand sermons about how 'delays are not denials' and 'God's timing is perfect.' It sounds spiritual to say suffering builds character, but it's making him resent a God who seems to withhold on purpose for his 'growth.'
The widow was down to her last meal—literally about to eat and die with her son. Elijah showed up and she obeyed immediately. The oil and flour didn't run out from that day forward. No waiting period. No 'God is teaching you to trust through lack.' Instant, sustained provision the moment she acted on the word.
I REFUSE the lie that God withholds to build my character. IT IS WRITTEN: every good and perfect gift comes from the Father with no variation—He doesn't play games with my breakthrough. Suffering doesn't come from Him to teach me; John 10:10 says the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came to give LIFE. IT IS WRITTEN: my Father doesn't give me a stone when I ask for bread—He gives GOOD gifts. The BARAK blessing didn't make Abraham wait to teach patience—God appeared and spoke and blessed repeatedly, immediately. I'm not in a divine waiting room learning lessons; I'm in covenant receiving promises.
Your Father isn't withholding your breakthrough to teach you a lesson. He's the dad who runs to you with the robe and ring before you finish your apology, not the teacher making you sit in the corner until you learn patience.
