"God is punishing me with this disability for past sins."
How it sounds in your head: You know what you did in your twenties, your thirties. God's just settling accounts. This body breaking down is payback. You're reaping what you sowed.
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:13-14Source: Religious teaching that turned Galatians 6:7 into karma, making God a cosmic accountant instead of a Father who already punished Jesus for ALL sin.
The timeline seems to match—years of hard living, then hard consequences. Your body feels like evidence in a divine court case. Every doctor's appointment feels like a sentencing hearing.
Disciples asked if his blindness was punishment for his sin or his parents' sin. Jesus said NEITHER—this happened so God's works could be revealed in him, then IMMEDIATELY healed him.
I REFUSE the lie that God is punishing me with disability. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus took ALL punishment at the cross—there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. My past is covered by the blood, and Colossians 2:14 declares every charge against me was nailed to the cross. God isn't an accountant—He's the Father who ran to the prodigal who WASTED everything and threw a party instead of a punishment. IT IS WRITTEN in Isaiah 53:5 that by His stripes I AM healed—past tense, finished work. I am under the BARAK blessing that protected even murderers in the Old Covenant because it was based on COVENANT, not behavior. My disability is not divine payback—it's an opportunity for God's glory.
The Father already poured out ALL wrath on Jesus so He could pour out ALL blessing on you. He's not looking at your past—He's looking at Christ's finished work and calling you righteous, whole, beloved.
