"God is punishing me through this failure for past sins and shortcuts I took."
How it sounds in your head: You know what you did. The corners you cut. The gray areas. The times you chose profit over integrity. Maybe not illegal, but not fully honest. God's finally settling accounts. This failure is judgment you earned.
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:13-14Religious teaching that God punishes through circumstances, creating karmic Christianity that denies the cross.
He knows his business had compromises—everyone's does. Religious teaching connects suffering to divine punishment. The timing of failure after years of 'getting away with it' seems like delayed judgment.
David committed adultery and murder—far worse than business shortcuts. When he confessed, God said 'The LORD has taken away your sin.' Psalm 103:12 says He removed transgressions 'as far as east is from west.'
I REFUSE the lie that God is punishing me for past sins through business failure. IT IS WRITTEN in Colossians 2:13-14 that He forgave ALL my trespasses, nailing the record of debt to the cross. Jesus took ALL punishment—there's none left for me. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:1 there is NO CONDEMNATION for me in Christ. David committed adultery and murder yet God removed his sin as far as east from west. My Father isn't settling accounts—He's running toward me with the robe and ring. The BARAK blessing covers my past, present, and future. I am forgiven, not punished.
Your Father isn't punishing you—He punished Jesus instead, and now there's no punishment left for you. The prodigal wasted everything on prostitutes, yet the Father ran with restoration, not retribution, throwing a party instead of settling accounts.
