"God is punishing me for past mistakes - this unemployment is judgment."
How it sounds in your head: I know what I did. The affairs, the corners I cut, the people I stepped on climbing the ladder. This job loss is payback. God's evening the score. I'm getting what I deserve, and I have no right to ask Him for help.
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit."
-- Romans 8:1Religious lie weaponizing past sin, denying finished work of cross and power of blood.
His conscience remembers specific failures, and the timing of this crisis feels like cosmic justice. Religion taught him that God keeps score, and this looks like the bill coming due.
A convicted criminal hanging next to Jesus, guilty of crimes worthy of crucifixion, with zero time to prove himself or make restitution. He simply asked Jesus to remember him, and Jesus INSTANTLY promised him paradise that very day - full forgiveness and eternal life in one moment.
I REFUSE the lie that this unemployment is God's punishment. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation to those in Christ Jesus. Jesus took every punishment I deserved on the cross. The blood covers what my conscience remembers and what I've forgotten. I am NOT under curse - I am under the BLESSING of Abraham, which protected liars, deceivers, and murderers because it was based on COVENANT, not behavior. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ redeemed me from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13). I am blessed, not cursed. Favored, not punished. Pursued by goodness, not karma.
The Father isn't waiting for you to pay for past failures - Jesus already paid in full. While you're rehearsing your sins, He's interrupting with the robe, the ring, the sandals, and a party. He's not interested in your 'make me a servant' speech. He's interested in celebrating His son.
