"God is punishing me for loving money too much through these losses."
How it sounds in your head: You made money an idol and God took it away to teach you a lesson. He's humbling you through financial loss. This is discipline for misplaced priorities. You need to learn contentment in poverty first.
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:13-14Religious teaching that God authors suffering as punishment, contradicting the finished work of the cross.
Scripture says love of money is evil, and you were checking portfolios obsessively. The timing of loss after gain feels like divine correction. Pastors have taught God uses poverty to humble pride.
He blew his entire inheritance on prostitutes and wild living—literal idolatry of pleasure and money. The Father didn't lecture him on contentment or make him earn back trust. He gave him the robe, ring, sandals, and threw a PARTY.
I REFUSE the lie that God is punishing me through financial loss. IT IS WRITTEN He has forgiven ALL trespasses and nailed every requirement to the cross. The chastisement for my peace was on JESUS—there is no punishment left for me. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:1 there is NO CONDEMNATION for those in Christ. God doesn't author loss to teach lessons—the enemy steals, Jesus RESTORES. I am not under correction—I am under GRACE. The Father didn't punish the prodigal who literally worshiped money and pleasure—He RAN to him with restoration. That same Father is running to me NOW with blessing, not a budget lesson.
The Father sees religious voices telling you He's teaching you through poverty and He's FURIOUS—not at you, at the lies. He's the Father who killed the fattened calf for a son who blew everything. He's running toward you with RESTORATION, not punishment.
