"God is frustrated that I still struggle with the same sins after all these years of knowing Him."
How it sounds in your head: Three decades of church and you're STILL dealing with lust, anger, pride? God must be so frustrated. 'I gave you Scripture, the Holy Spirit, accountability—what MORE do you need?' His patience is wearing thin. You're the slow student who never gets it, the project that won't improve.
"For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need."
-- Hebrews 4:15-16Source: Sanctification-as-linear-progress theology where spiritual maturity should eliminate recurring sin—enemy's condemnation for cyclical struggles.
The evidence is undeniable—same temptations in your fifties as your twenties. If the Christian life works, why hasn't it worked on THIS? Surely God is frustrated with your lack of progress.
Samson repeatedly broke his Nazarite vow, slept with prostitutes, told Delilah his secret after she OBVIOUSLY betrayed him multiple times—pattern of same stupid decisions. In his final prayer, God gave him DOUBLE the victory—killed more enemies in death than life. No frustration, only POWER.
I REFUSE the lie that God is frustrated with my recurring struggles. IT IS WRITTEN Jesus SYMPATHIZES with my weakness and I come BOLDLY for mercy—not after victory, IN WEAKNESS. Samson made the same dumb decisions repeatedly and got DOUBLE POWER at the end. Peter denied Jesus and got breakfast plus the keys to the church. IT IS WRITTEN His mercies are NEW EVERY MORNING for exactly this—the same struggle on repeat. I am not a project that's failing—I am a SON who's loved. The BARAK protected Abraham through REPEATED lies. God's not keeping score—He's pouring GRACE. There is NO CONDEMNATION, which includes condemnation for slow progress.
The Father isn't frustrated—He's sympathetic. While you're despairing at recurring sin, He's stocking the throne with GRACE specifically for time of need, and saying 'come BOLDLY, again, same struggle, I've got mercy for that, AGAIN.'
