"God expected me to be further along spiritually by my age"
How it sounds in your head: I've been a Christian for decades and still struggle with basics. I should be teaching others by now, but I barely understand myself. God invested years in me and the return is pathetic. I'm spiritually stunted and He knows it.
"And you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power."

Hebrews 5:12 says 'by this time you ought to be teachers' and he's not. He sees younger believers with more passion, more knowledge, more fruit. Twenty years in church and he still doesn't feel 'mature'—that has to be disappointing to God.
Zero Bible knowledge, zero discipleship, zero ministry experience, zero spiritual maturity—just 'Jesus, remember me.' Jesus' response: 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise.' Full acceptance, instant qualification, complete salvation in approximately 3 minutes of faith.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm behind on some spiritual maturity schedule. IT IS WRITTEN: I am COMPLETE in Christ—not becoming complete, not partially complete, but COMPLETE right now. My maturity is HIS maturity credited to my account. IT IS WRITTEN: I am a branch abiding in the Vine, and fruit comes from CONNECTION, not striving. The thief on the cross had hours of faith and full acceptance; I have YEARS of His faithfulness over me. I declare: God is not disappointed in my spiritual progress—He's delighted in our RELATIONSHIP. I am His beloved son, fully accepted, fully mature in CHRIST.
The Father doesn't have a spiritual report card with your name on it. He has a SON he's crazy about, and every moment with you is His joy, whether you're quoting theology or just showing up broken. You're not a project; you're His beloved.
