"God is disappointed I'm not over past trauma and haven't healed faster."
How it sounds in your head: It's been years since that happened and you're still affected? God gave you everything you need for life and godliness—why are you still broken? Other people moved on. Your inability to heal disappoints God.
"He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds."
-- Psalm 147:3Source: Quick-fix church culture that denies trauma's complexity and treats healing like a linear formula, shaming slow recovery as lack of faith.
She watches others testify to instant freedom while she still flinches at triggers years later. Well-meaning people quote 'new creation' verses as if trauma should evaporate immediately, making her ongoing pain feel like spiritual deficiency rather than legitimate wound.
Mephibosheth was crippled from childhood trauma (dropped by nurse fleeing attack) and lived decades in hiding, afraid and broken. King David didn't say 'you should be over this'—he restored him to the table WHILE STILL CRIPPLED, giving full inheritance despite permanent physical impact of past trauma.
I REFUSE the lie that God grades my healing speed or is disappointed by ongoing trauma impact. IT IS WRITTEN that He heals the brokenhearted and binds wounds—HE does this, not me through perfect recovery timelines. My brokenness qualifies me for His binding, not His critique. IT IS WRITTEN that He is close to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Mephibosheth sat at the king's table STILL LAME—full acceptance, full inheritance, zero requirement to be 'over it.' I am not deficient for still healing. The Father runs toward the wounded, not away. I receive His binding hands with no shame for the timeline.
Your Father looks at your trauma and its lingering effects with the gentleness of a surgeon tending wounds—He's not frustrated by how long it takes; He's present in every moment of healing, binding every tear, and your pace doesn't change His tenderness one degree. You're not disappointing Him; you're receiving His care.
