"God is disappointed I'm not further along by now"
How it sounds in your head: I should have my life together by now. Other guys my age are crushing it—career locked in, engagement ring purchased, spiritual life solid. I'm still figuring out what I even want to do. God must be shaking His head at me.
"The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."
-- Zephaniah 3:17Source: Performance religion that measures God's pleasure by human timelines and comparison to peers
Social media shows everyone else winning while he's still in the figuring-it-out phase. Church culture celebrates the 22-year-old married worship leader with the ministry job, making his uncertainty feel like failure.
Gideon was hiding in a winepress, fearful, from the weakest clan, the least in his family—total nobody by human metrics. The Angel called him 'mighty warrior' BEFORE he did anything, and God used him to deliver Israel that same season.
I REFUSE the lie that God is disappointed in my timeline. IT IS WRITTEN that He rejoices over me with SINGING right now—not when I have it together, but TODAY. My Father doesn't measure me by peer comparison or cultural milestones. IT IS WRITTEN in Ephesians 1:6 that I am ACCEPTED in the Beloved—that's present tense, completed acceptance. I am Abraham's seed, heir according to PROMISE, and the BARAK blessing isn't waiting for me to arrive—it's ACTIVE over my uncertainty. God is not shaking His head. He's singing over my becoming.
The Father is running toward you in your confusion with the robe of identity, not waiting for you to find your path first. He calls you mighty warrior while you're still hiding in the winepress—your potential in His eyes is not delayed by your current uncertainty.
