"God is disappointed I let my body go and didn't steward my health better."
How it sounds in your head: Your body is a temple and look what you've done to it. God gave you one body and you've gained weight, ignored warning signs, eaten poorly. He's disappointed in your lack of discipline.
"But the LORD said to Samuel, 'Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.'"

Her body changed with menopause, medications, stress, and age despite her efforts, and church culture subtly equates thinness with godliness. Every health scare feels like punishment for past choices, and Bible verses about 'temple' get weaponized into body-shaming rather than care.
She had a chronic health condition for 12 years, spending all her money on doctors with no improvement, yet Jesus called her 'daughter' and said 'your faith has made you well'—instant healing with zero shame about the condition or the years it persisted.
I REFUSE the lie that God measures me by my physical condition or grades my body stewardship. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord looks at the heart, not outward appearance. My body has carried life, endured stress, survived hormones, and navigated decades—it tells a story of strength, not failure. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, present tense, not past tense before the weight or changes. God's love doesn't increase when I'm thinner or healthier. The woman with 12 years of chronic illness received 'daughter,' not disappointment. I receive the same. My worth is NEVER physical.
Your Father looks at your body with the tenderness of an artist viewing His masterpiece after it's been through weather and time—He sees beauty, story, survival, and belovedness, not a graded assignment. Every cell is known to Him, and none of it changes His delight in you.
