"God is angry because I chose money over ministry"
How it sounds in your head: I had opportunities to go into full-time ministry but chose the corporate job for the paycheck. Every mission trip invitation I declined, every ministry role I turned down—God sees it as choosing mammon over Him.
"And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men."
-- Colossians 3:23Sacred-secular divide theology that ranks careers by divine approval, making marketplace work feel like second-class spirituality.
Pastors and missionaries feel more spiritual, and your paycheck feels like proof you chose comfort over calling. Every tithe feels like penance for selling out.
Lydia was a wealthy businesswoman selling purple cloth—a luxury goods dealer, not a minister. God opened her heart, she and her household were baptized, and she became a pillar of the early church while REMAINING in business.
I REFUSE the lie that God is angry at my career choice or that marketplace work is second-class. IT IS WRITTEN whatever I do, I do as to the Lord. My work IS ministry. The BARAK blessing promises blessing on my storehouses and all my hands touch—God BLESSES marketplace sons. IT IS WRITTEN the love of money is the root of evil, not money itself. Abraham was RICH. Isaac was RICH. Jacob was RICH. All under the covenant blessing. I'm not choosing money over God. I'm a blessed son in the marketplace.
The Father doesn't have a hierarchy of holy careers. He blessed Abraham with massive wealth, and Abraham never went into 'full-time ministry'—he was a blessed businessman in covenant relationship.
