"God is angry at me for being too emotional and not having more self-control."
How it sounds in your head: I cry too easily, react too strongly, feel too much. I should have the fruit of the Spirit—self-control, peace—but instead I'm still an emotional mess. God must be so angry at my lack of spiritual fruit after all these years.
"You number my wanderings; Put my tears in Your bottle; Are they not in Your book?"
-- Psalm 56:8Source: Religious teaching that demonizes emotions (especially women's emotions) and measures spiritual maturity by emotional suppression rather than authentic feeling.

Wept bitterly in the temple, prayed so emotionally that the priest thought she was drunk—God didn't rebuke her 'excessive' emotion. He HEARD her prayer, gave her Samuel, and used her emotional desperation as the birthplace of a prophet.
I REFUSE the lie that God is angry at my emotions. IT IS WRITTEN that He puts my tears in a BOTTLE—He treasures them, collects them, honors them. Jesus WEPT openly, felt deeply, expressed emotion freely. I am not spiritually immature for feeling intensely—I am FULLY HUMAN, created in the image of an emotional God. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:26 that the Spirit HELPS my weakness—He doesn't condemn my emotional struggles, He ASSISTS me in them. Hannah's bitter weeping birthed a prophet. My emotions are not sin. They are SACRED.
Your Father isn't angry at your tears and emotions. He's leaning in close, catching every tear in His bottle, whispering: 'Feel it all, daughter. I'm not afraid of your big emotions—I gave them to you, and I'm right here in them with you.'
