"God gave me this disability to teach me something I couldn't learn any other way"
How it sounds in your head: Maybe God couldn't get through to you with words, so He had to use disability to teach you patience, compassion, or humility. Maybe you were too proud or too selfish, and this was the only way to make you depend on Him. It's a hard lesson, but necessary.
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."
-- James 1:17Religion making God the author of suffering instead of the Healer of all wounds
Religious teaching says God uses trials to teach, and disability is the ultimate trial. You've heard testimonies of people who say their suffering made them better, stronger, closer to God.
Lost everything—children, health, wealth. Religious friends said it was God's lesson. But God said they were WRONG. When Job prayed for his friends, God RESTORED everything—gave him DOUBLE what he lost. God wasn't the author of the suffering. He was the RESTORER.
I REFUSE the lie that God gave me disability to teach me. IT IS WRITTEN that EVERY good and perfect gift comes from the Father—and disability is neither good nor perfect. God is not the author of suffering—He is the HEALER. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil, not inflict them for lessons. IT IS WRITTEN in John 10:10 that the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy—but Jesus came to give ABUNDANT LIFE. I don't worship a God who breaks me to teach me. I worship a GOOD FATHER who runs toward me with healing in His wings. I receive the BARAK blessing—blessed in my body, whole and complete. The lesson isn't disability. The lesson is HIS GOODNESS.
Father didn't give you disability any more than He gave the prodigal son a pig pen. The son's choices led to the pen, but the Father's nature led to RESTORATION. The Father isn't teaching through suffering—He's HEALING through love. He doesn't want you broken. He wants you WHOLE.
