"God gave me this business dream just to take it away and show me it was an idol."
How it sounds in your head: I wanted it too much. It became about the business instead of Him. He had to remove it so I'd worship Him alone. This is my Abraham and Isaac moment—He asked me to lay it down, and I didn't, so He took it.
"Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart."
-- Psalm 37:4Religion teaching that God baits you with desires then punishes you for having them, contradicting Psalm 37:4 that He gives you the desires of your heart.
She DID care deeply about the business, and framing it as 'idol removal' gives the pain spiritual meaning and makes God seem involved rather than distant.
Hannah desperately wanted a son, prayed with such passion people thought she was drunk. God gave her Samuel—and when she dedicated him to temple service, God didn't leave her empty. He gave her FIVE MORE CHILDREN. Her desire wasn't punished; it was multiplied.
I REFUSE the lie that God gave me this business dream to take it away and expose it as an idol. IT IS WRITTEN that He GIVES me the desires of my heart—not plants them to punish me for having them. Hannah's desperate desire for a son wasn't rebuked; it was MULTIPLIED—she got six children, not punishment for wanting one. IT IS WRITTEN that God is not a man that He should lie—if He planted the dream, He's not the one who killed it. The thief comes to steal, kill, destroy; Jesus comes to give LIFE. The Father didn't give me this desire to play cruel games; He's preparing VERSION 2.0 that makes the first attempt look like the rough draft before the masterpiece.
The Father doesn't plant dreams in your heart as traps to test your worship—He plants them as SEEDS of what He wants to bring forth. He's not taking inventory of your 'idols'; He's preparing the soil for the harvest, and what looked dead is about to sprout in a way that proves it was always His plan.
