"God gave me a spouse and I threw it away—I'll answer for that waste on Judgment Day."
How it sounds in your head: He gave me a gift and I rejected it. On Judgment Day, I'll have to explain why I wasn't grateful enough to make it work. Every failed marriage is a gift thrown back in God's face.
"Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love."
-- 1 John 4:17-18Source: Religious teaching that presents divorce as ultimate ingratitude and Judgment Day as an accounting of relationship failures rather than celebration of Christ's success.
You know marriage is called a gift from God, and the idea of standing before Him to explain why you 'threw it away' feels inevitable and terrifying. The accounting of your life feels like it will focus on this failure.
He wasted his ENTIRE LIFE on crime, had zero righteous deeds, no successful relationships, nothing to show God. Jesus' response to his simple request: 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise'—complete acceptance, immediate entrance, zero accounting of wasted years.
I REFUSE the lie that Judgment Day will be an accounting of my divorce. IT IS WRITTEN: 'We may have BOLDNESS in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.' I will stand before Him IN CHRIST, clothed in HIS righteousness, not my relationship record. IT IS WRITTEN: 'There is therefore NOW no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus.' The only question on Judgment Day is 'Do you know My Son?' and my answer is YES. I am not on trial; I am already declared righteous. The BARAK blessing covers me on earth AND in eternity—blessed because of COVENANT, not performance.
The Father sees Judgment Day as your coronation, not your trial. You'll stand before Him clothed in Jesus' righteousness, and He'll say 'Well done, beloved daughter' based on Christ's work, not your marriage.
