"God expected me to be farther along in my faith by now"
How it sounds in your head: Other girls my age seem so sure about their faith. They pray out loud and share Jesus with friends. I still don't understand the Bible and I'm scared to tell people about God. I should be more mature by now.
"I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow."
-- 1 Corinthians 3:6-7Source: Church culture that measures spiritual maturity by performance, creating comparison instead of celebrating individual journeys.
She sees peers who seem confident and assumes there's a spiritual growth chart she's behind on. The enemy uses comparison to make her feel like she's failing an invisible test.
Timothy was so young and insecure that Paul had to tell him 'Don't let ANYONE look down on you because you are young.' Yet Paul INSTANTLY trusted him with leading churches and called him his true son in the faith - no waiting period required.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm behind schedule! IT IS WRITTEN that GOD makes things grow - it's HIS job, not mine! I am a BRANCH connected to the VINE, and apart from Him I can do NOTHING, but IN Him fruit comes AUTOMATICALLY! Timothy was young and unsure, yet Paul INSTANTLY gave him authority - no 'prove yourself first'! IT IS WRITTEN in John 15:5 - I'm already IN the Vine, which means I'm already PRODUCING exactly what the Father designed for this season! I stand in the BARAK blessing - protected and provided for by COVENANT, not by spiritual performance metrics! There is NO CONDEMNATION for those in Christ!
The Father isn't standing over you with a clipboard marking you late. He's the gardener who KNOWS exactly what season you're in, and He's DELIGHTED with the growth that's happening underground where you can't even see it yet.
